philly diy archive

(roof doctor, 2011) 2008–2015 • documented + preserved

what this is

the philly diy archive is a community-driven non-profit documentation project focused on the philadelphia (and adjacent) underground music scene from 2008 to 2015. this includes bands, venues, shows, recordings, flyers, videos, and firsthand accounts.

why am i doing this?

for everyone. for the artists who want to relive old times, fans of the scene, for people who want to discover music for the first time. to revive things people thought were lost. download links expire and hard drives die. i'm here to preserve. not just the music, but the space, the relationships and moments that built the scene that people thought they outgrew.

this archive exists to preserve context. not just music, but the relationships, spaces, and moments that made the scene what it was. i've been working on this for almost 2 years now, gone through 4 different websites that were either purposefully or unintentionally deleted, but i didn't give up. this is for y'all.

how to contribute

if you were involved in this scene: played in a band, booked shows, ran a space, took photo or videos, made flyers, or still have files sitting on a drive.. your contributions matter.

contact info and submission guidelines are on the contact page.
